How We Calculate Your Benefits

Our calculators use the official formulas published by each state’s workers’ compensation agency. We aggregate data from 50 state WC boards, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) for injury-specific data.

  • 1
    State-specific AWW formulas

Highest quarter, highest year, or average year — per state rules.

  • 2
    2026 minimum & maximum caps

All 50 state rates, updated annually each January.

  • 3
    AMA Guides (4th, 5th, 6th ed.)

Impairment ratings per the edition mandated by each state.

  • 4
    Industry settlement data

NCCI and Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) benchmarks.

Our Methodology

We source benefit rates, formulas, and caps directly from each state’s official workers’ compensation agency. The data is reviewed annually, cross-checked against NCCI rate filings, and updated every January when states release new rate schedules. Each calculator and state page lists the underlying sources at the bottom.
